lyrics
Something shook in the heavens last night
A wrinkle of time playing in shadows and light
A wave that was born in the black
Hurtling forward from a billion years back
A collision becomes a ripple so weak
Like the stories we tell that are fading as we speak
The clock isn’t moving but the minutes never stop
Time is moving sideways, from the bottom to the top
When a star falls apart, it turns black
It’s like breaking a heart, can’t turn back
I came to realize that the mind is like two skies
One of the dark and one of light
Each necessary and each one right
And Time is the greatest magician on a stage called space
Cuz we’re Miles apart, yet somehow I feel your embrace
When a star falls apart it turns black, it’s like breaking a heart (Can't turn back)
When a star falls apart it turns black, it’s like breaking a heart (Can't turn back)
I feel you dancing around me, even when you’re not here
It's only when I see you that everything becomes clear
I feel you dancing around me, even when you’re not here
It's only when I see you that everything becomes clear
I can see you walking in the garden, with only one shoe, by the water
And I see you sitting in the long grass in the picture by the mirror
And that time we lay in the sand and watched the stars shooting by
I wished for the moon, I wished I could fly
When a star falls apart, when a star falls apart
I feel you dancing around me, I feel you dancing around me
Navigating the night among the stars
Wake up and forget who you are
When a star falls apart it turns black it’s like breaking a heart
The sun will drown in that ocean of black and we’ll only know his ghost
But I don’t fear the crack slicing through zodiacs
Stopping time in its tracks
Gravity draws us closer, reason under attack
Do I know you?

Dave is the master of writing endings that instill an ethereal feeling of hope within the person who experiences it. The Field is a perfect cap to the end of Octet and by itself it fills me with the calm tranquility of acceptance in situations where I feel like everything is wrong, like I'm unworthy of everything I have and happiness itself. It always reminds me to not waste anymore of my weird and precious time, arguing the nonsense of the wheel. playton
Loved seeing it live in Boston, wish I could see it again (and we went 2x in 3 days). The words are beautiful and when choreography gets as much thought, as it did in Boston, wow! sagehen47
